Our local studies librarian, Mike, has a great interest in the Limerick music scene. His first ever experience of live music was at Limerick’s Savoy Theatre in 1978 and he was there for many further events through the following ten years to its closure. Mike wrote an article for the Old Limerick Journal (Rock and Roll Days at the Savoy) about those last years of the theatre and was later interviewed about the Savoy by local musician, Matthew Bashford. Their conversation dealt mainly with the theatre but also ranged across the whole Limerick music scene from the 1960s through to contemporary times.
