How do I access the Newspapers Collection?
Limerick City Library has a large collection of newspapers. These are mainly held on microfilm, though we also have some in original, hardcopy format. Access to the microfilm readers is free and open to all. Extracts can either be printed or scanned. There is a 20c per page fee for printing. If you wish to view the newspaper collection please book in advance to ensure you get access to a microfilm reader.
I have never used a Microfilm Reader before, will someone be able to show me how it works?
Staff will be available to assist those who are unfamiliar with operating these machines.
How much does it cost to print from the microfilm reader?
20c. per page (no charge for scanning).
The Local Studies department has public access available to digitised newspapers collections – the Irish Newspaper Archives (available at all branches), The British Newspaper Archive (which includes Limerick newspaper titles) and the Irish Times Archive (also available at Dooradoyle branch).
There are issues missing for some of the titles in the collection – please contact local studies to ensure the issue for which you are looking is available.
